Wild Roses
Rosa dumosa (or canina?), Rosa arvensis- ?
I must admit, that I do not still know what the rose I transplanted to the garden from the area close to Volvo goods-train rails! It looked around like a completely wild area, not any culture and the rose looked wild. But I liked the flower and that time we have not really plans to plant many roses in Yngve's garden. I do not even remember the year, but it could be not later than 1996. I planted the rose on the spot which I later called for 'Buskage', and I thought the nice variegated grass will be a good background. I planted then Phalaris arundinacea 'Tricolor' which started very quick take over all! I tried to remove it completely, but never succeeded.. So after we built s.c. 'Birch Hill' on the North side and on the Buskage area the more roses has been planted (after removing the wild bushes and large stones), the wild rose, which we thought could be Rosa arvensis,
has been moved to the 'Birch Hill', around 1998. Unfortunately, a piece of the grass root must have been following as well - we have soon got the grass again also there and have been fighting with it years! I pruned the rose often, otherwise it behaved as a ground cover, growing very wide.

Jag maste erkänna, att jag inte vet tills idag vilken sort av ros jag planterad, först i det området som hette senare 'Buskage' (runt 1996), och förflyttat till s.k. 'Björkkulle', då Nordsidan startade arta sig (runt 1998). Jag har hittat rosen nära Volvos godståg spår. Det var vildmark omkring och jag tror inte den var planterad där. De vackra vita, stora blommorna tyckte jag om, dessutom på den tiden hade vi inte riktigt planer att plantera mycket över huvud taget, inte minst rosorna var bara få. Tillsammans planterade jag, som snygg bakgrund, tyckte jag, ett bråkigt gras, Phalaris arundinacea 'Tricolor' som visade sig omåtlig aggressivt. Jag forsökte utplåna gräset, även det var snyggt, men lyckades inte helt. Dessutom då vi flyttade rosen, en bit av underjordiska löppare följde med och vi hade gräset snabbt igen runt alla rosor planterade pa Björkkullen! Jag kämpade med gräset alla åren, men lyckades aldrig.. Rosen var klippt ganska mycket för att den växte som en marktäckare, vilket jag ville inte.

The other wild rose I have found on the garden area and planted on the 'Birch Hill' it was a pink flowering Rosa canina eller R. dumosa, unfortunately I was not able to find out which of them. The rose was pruned as a standard, because it was not space for the shrubto be of natural shape. There were several wild shrubs like this on the garden area and I have left them on their spots - I liked flowers, coming early summer, followed by hips.

Den andra vilda rosen som hade haft rosa blommor tog jag från Yngves tomt och planterad vid sidan om Rosa arvensis också på Björkkullen. Jag vet inte om den var Rosa dumosa eller Rosa canina. Jag klippte rosen till uppstammad för att minska platsen den tog. Dessutom tyckte jag det var snyggare på rabatten. Andra likadana rosor på tomten stannade kvar på sina platser. Jag tyckte mycket om deras blommor följde av nyppon.

Sometimes a wild ros appeared somewhere for a short time among planted roses, but I removed them very quick because it could be wild root-shoot from the ground stem.
Ibland hade jag hittat en vild ros bland de planterade och även fick den en blomma, men jag trodde det kunde vara vilda rotskott från grundstammen, i alla fall tog jag dem bort illa kvick.
